Dr. Claudia Gasparrini in 2024 was awarded a 1.5M€ European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant for her project URÅNIA: Unique Research Asset for Nuclear Innovative Applications where she devised and proposed a new breakthrough methodology to unveil the precursors responsible for the shift across incubation to initiation of materials degradation phenomena thanks to synergistic collaboration across world leading institutions and unique experimental facilities. She was supposed to take up a position as Associate Professor in Nuclear Plants in 2024, she moved to the University of Cambridge in the UK in 2026 with the ERC grant as Assistant Research Professor in Advanced Nuclear Applications within the Department of Engineering, research group Energy. Back then she was serving mostly on US Department of State Projects fully remotely as Senior Consultant within Jensen Hughes (Energy + Utilities) and EXCEL Services nuclear team on projects internationally. She was previously Business Development Manager and scientist focusing on nuclear projects in both fission and fusion specializing in nuclear materials performance and degradation.
